15 Legit Ways to Save Money on Amazon

Please review my privacy policy for further details. As an Amazon associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. Thank you for your support in allowing this site to continue!

We’re all shopping online more now than ever before, so we’ve put together our list of the top 15 ways to save money on Amazon.

Amazon.com is our nation’s largest online retailer. I can almost guarantee that if you’re reading this, you’ve purchased at least one item before from Amazon. And most people have the uber-popular, Amazon Prime Membership and enjoy all of the perks it brings.

If you’re not a Prime member, you can sign-up for a free 30-Day trial.

Are you ready to save money on Amazon? Let’s find out how!

15 Legit Ways to Save Money on Amazon

1. Use Discounted Gift Cards

There is a huge market out there for unused and partially used gift cards. All you have to do is hop on to a reputable gift card reseller site like Raise and search for your gift card of choice, such as Amazon!

If you can’t find what you’re looking for on Raise, check out CardPool and even eBay.

2. Use a Cash Back Credit Card

We love credit card rewards points. Using a credit card to purchase items you would have bought with cash or a debit card anyway is a great way to save money. To shop credit cards, check out sites like NerdWallet and Bankrate for reviews.

There’s even an official Amazon Visa Card where you’ll get 3% back on all Amazon purchases.

There are other cards that allow you to ring up rewards that can be used exclusively for shopping on Amazon.com. Here’s a list of credit cards that offer Amazon Reward Points.

3. Use Rebate Apps like Fetch Rewards

Rebate apps are all the rage right now! Using apps like Ibotta and Checkout 51 is an awesome way to stack rewards. For shopping on Amazon, we love Fetch Rewards. You can link your Amazon account. Once you buy something, you simply click the “online purchase icon,” and you’re rewarded with points.

4. Sign up for a Discounted Prime Membership

Amazon Prime wants your business! So they have a few discounted memberships that may apply to you:

Households that use a government issued EBT card can receive a Prime membership for just $5.99 per month.

College students with a valid school email can 50% off a yearly Prime membership with 6-months free!

Lastly, you can get a free 30-Day trial to try out the services.

5. Non-Prime Members Can Get Free Shipping

If you decide against investing in an Amazon Prime Membership, you can still take advantage of free shipping. All you need to do is to fill your cart with $25 or more, and you’ll avoid paying for shipping!

6. Review Historical Prices & Set Notifications

Whenever shopping online, you don’t always know if you’re getting the best deal. And, when deals pop up, you don’t want to miss out. The good news is that you can use download Chrome Extensions like CamelCamelCamel and Keepa to review the price history of an item you’re wanting to purchase.

These free extensions not only allow you to research historical pricing but you can set up alerts to be notified when the price drops as well.

7. Search “Dollar Items”

Sometimes the only thing you need to do to save extra money online is to know what to search for. On the Amazon homepage, try searching for “dollar items.” Doing so will populate pages of items that are around $1.00 or so. Keep in mind, you’ll still need to do your homework to make sure that you’re getting a good deal.

8. Trade Something

We all have items just lying around that we don’t need or use very often. If that’s true for you, then you might be able to trade those items in for something new or for Amazon Gift Cards.

Amazon allows trade-ins on eligible items in categories such as electronics, cell phones, and video games. Check out the following page to review trade-in requirements.

9. Subscribe and Save Program

Amazon’s Subscribe and Save Program is designed to save you both time and money! You can automate purchases on essential items like paper towels, dog food, and detergent. In addition to freeing up your to-do list, you could also save up to 15%!

10. Shop Daily Deals

You can quickly find everything that is on sale on Amazon from the homepage! To do this, look for a link that says, “Today’s Deals” under the Amazon search bar. During the holiday season, it may read, “Holiday Deals.”

From there, you can sort by Lightning Deals, upcoming deals, and/or even sort by category.

11. Buy Overstock Items

Like any retailer, Amazon has overstock items. To reward you for buying up surplus inventory, you’ll receive a discount. To check out overstock items, pop over to the Amazon Outlet page.

12. Buy Used

Amazon is mostly known for selling new products. Now, however, they offer a wide selection of quality used items. If you want to peruse the used inventory, check out Amazon Warehouse. They have tons of great, gently used items at low prices.

13. Use Coupons

If you love saving money on Amazon, you need to familiarize yourself with the the “Coupon” section of the website! Located directly at the main menu below the “Search” bar, you’ll see a link that says “Coupons.”

From there, you simply “Clip” the coupon that you want and your discount will be applied at checkout. Easy, right?!

14. Earn Credit for No-Rush Shipping

If you’re not in a hurry to get your package, members can choose to opt out of the 2-Day Prime delivery and get rewarded with Amazon credit! That credit can in turn be applied on future Amazon purchases.
